Data About the Library

The Health Sciences Library is the primary library for the UNC-CH Schools of Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Health, and UNC Hospitals. It contains 333,493 total volumes and receives 4,116 serial titles. Electronic journals and databases such as PubMed, CINAHL, ISI Citation Databases, BIOSIS, PsychINFO, eFacts, and Lexi-Comp are available through the Library's web site anywhere on campus. Faculty, staff, and students can access electronic resources from home. The library provides integrated library instruction and electronic reserves to support academic courses. Librarians offer a variety of additional services including customized literature searches and electronic applications development. A total renovation of the library building was completed in early 2005. The library is now fully wireless and equipped with 42 public computer workstations, 19 small group study rooms, 2 Media Kitchens, 2 teaching labs with a total of 45 workstations, and a campus equipped computer lab with 28 workstations. Seating capacity of the entire library is now 716.
