Brief Bio

Jean's interest in consumer health and patient education originated in her work as a public librarian. Since coming to the UNC Health Sciences Library in 1994, she has expanded this interest through involvement with the patient resource centers at UNC Hospitals, where she serves as a consultant for six centers and is a member of the Planetree Subcommittee. She provides content for the Women's Health Information Center Web site and for UNC Health Care's "Suggested Sites" Web links. Jean is also interested in Health Literacy as it relates to patient education and has designed and taught in-service training for hospital staff on this topic.

As the library liaison to Hospital Administration, Jean has worked with Performance Improvement and Patient Safety (PIPS) to provide literature searches and articles for ongoing safety initiatives. She is a member of the UNC Hospitals Patient and Family Education Committee and the Clinical Workstation Team.
