WHIC has a small collection of resources, and you will not find answers to all possible questions. Access to the web expands WHIC's collection, but you must be very careful when you look for health information on the web. The next two sections will cover evaluating and using web resources to answer client questions.
You should always feel comfortable referring a question you are having trouble answering to Julie if she is available.
If you sense that your client does not have time to wait while you look in more resources, ask if she would like to leave her question and contact information so that someone can send information later. Many people now use Email, and you can send links to web resources after you have time to carefully select them.
If the client is not willing to leave contact information, give her the MedlinePlus bookmark so she can search on her own, and the bookmark from the Health Sciences Library. Be sure to point out the information about sending a question to the librarians by e-mail, the Ask-A-Librarian service, at http://www.hsl.unc.edu/asklib/
