WHIC keeps a supply of pamphlets for you to give to clients to meet their information needs. One copy of each pamphlet is found in the white notebooks organized by major topics of interest to clients: Adolescent Health; Chronic Diseases; Emotional Health; Gynecology; Mid-life Health; and Pregnancy & Childbirth. There is also a white notebook for pamphlets in Spanish (Espanol). Procedures for giving pamphlets to customers are described in
Section 3.
Spend time browsing through the pamphlets so that you have a general idea what specific topics are available, and understand the kind of information they contain. Note that pamphlets usually provide an overview of a condition in language that is easy to understand.
A pamphlet that addresses a customer's information need is often all you need to find. However, do not assume that the pamphlet will close your interaction with the client. Remember to offer it as a solution with an open ended statement: "Take a look at this and let me know if it answers your questions or if you need more information." If the customer sits in the center to read the pamphlet, remember to follow-up by returning to her later to find out if she needs more information. |
