Go to MedlinePlus – Evaluating Health Information for a list of sites that offer tips on how to evaluate health information. The National Library of Medicine, the primary U.S. government organization for research on evaluating health information, created this site for the purpose of informing consumers.

Go to Health on the Net Foundation to see the HONcode set of principles for medical and health Web sites. This foundation has defined a set of rules to promote basic ethical standards in the presentation of medical and health information and to make sure readers know the source and purpose of the information. If the HONcode symbol appears on a health Web site, it indicates the site conforms to these rules.

Go to Quackwatch to learn about health-related frauds, myths, fads, and fallacies. Created and maintained by Dr. Stephen Barrett, the site focuses on improving the quality of health information and attacking misleading advertising on the Web.
