Thesis (D.M.)--Université d'Alger, 1956. Excerpts PDF Georges Akoun was born on February 17, 1927 in Algiers. He studied respiratory diseases in Paris and received his Doctorat en Médecine from the Université d'Alger in 1966. Akoun was a professor at the Université de Paris VI, Faculté de Médecine Saint-Antoine, Pneumology department. He was particularly interested in respiratory diseases (including interstitial pneumonitis of immunologic origin). He was appointed the chief of the Paris hospitals pulmonary division in 1979. Akoun was a member of the American College of Chest Physicians (1986). He has written a number of articles and books on respiratory diseases and edited "Les entretiens de Tenon" and "Collège de médecine des hôpitaux de Paris: pathologie interne."
