Naming of The Health Sciences Library - $5,000,000
The Health Sciences Library is one of the few buildings on the UNC health affairs campus with a naming opportunity still available.

Named Funds for Collection Support - $20,000
Gifts create named endowment funds to support the acquisition of library materials in a specific field or collection, the work associated with a collection, preservation of library materials, advances in information technology, or the other areas of greatest need. These funds also provide financial support for acquisitions within disciplines and the special collections.

|
Named Director, Health Sciences Library - $1,000,000
By endowing the director's position, state funds would be freed to provide competitive salary upgrades and start-up packages for positions requiring higher salaries due to market factors or special skills, or added support such as in information technology.

|
Named Faculty Scholars Fund - $500,000
Support for research leading to innovation application and solutions. This fund ensures that the Health Sciences Library can remain on the cutting edge of health information technologies and practices.

Named Curator of the History of the Health Sciences Collection - $500,000
Support for a librarian for the Rare Books Collection.

History of Health Sciences Suite
For reading and research room, preservation facilities, meeting space, collection storage, expanded information, and research services.

Collaboration Center
This center, housed on the second floor of the Health Sciences Library, bridges the latest in technology with the most current information management needs in health affairs at UNC. The Collaboration Center is a laboratory for exploring new ways of expression and displaying information for the innovative researcher, the creative teaching faculty and the gifted student.

Technologies for Teaching, Learning, and Sharing Knowledge
Classrooms
|
The Health Sciences Library offers continuing education courses to Alumni, courses on literature searches for students, faculty and researchers, and specialized courses for clinicians. Improved classroom technologies will keep all of our "graduates" ahead of the curve.

The Biogen Idec Foundation has pledged $150,000 to the library to equip a state-of-the-art classroom to support student scientists, as part of a partnership announced today. The classroom is designed to help students discover, evaluate and apply information found in scientific databases and published literature.
There is still a naming opportunity for the neighboring classroom.

Group study rooms
As health care and research is changing, so too is health education. As education places more emphasis on cooperation and participation, the demand for group study areas has risen.
|

|
Media design studios
Media design studios contain all the ingredients that faculty need to produce new teaching and learning programs. The Health Sciences Library offers content, multi-media technology and experts, and expertise in the access and organization of information. This coupled with the professor's creative concept results in innovative methods and programs.
|
|
|
Public computing areas
The public computing stations allow students to conduct research, write, and study in a conducive environment. This area of the library receives the highest volume of usage and requires regular upgrades.
|
|
The UNC Medical Alumni Association, one of the most avid supporters of the Library, has given $200,000 towards the library's renovation. To honor that gift and a commitment of ongoing support, the library has named its most central computing area the Medical Alumni Association Electronic Information Center. In this area, library users can access the catalogue, the library's electronic holdings, specialized on-line guides, and other web content.
The ITS computer lab located on the second floor remains to be named.
