PubMed Linking: How to Create Direct Links to UNC Full Text in PubMed

Specify UNC Holdings

To display the UNC's full text holdings in PubMed, links will need to include the " holding=uncchlib " parameter at the end of the PubMed URL. Example (will not allow full-text access from off campus):

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?holding=uncchlib

The PubMed URL above links to the main PubMed search screen. Documentation for creating weblinks to specific articles or customized searches within PubMed can be found through the following link:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query/static/linking.html

Enable Access from Off-Campus

To enable UNC users both on- and off- campus to access licensed Library content linked on your web/course page, these PubMed URLs must be prepended with the UNC EZproxy URL segment. This includes links to UNC full text journal content accessed through PubMed. As always, off-campus users will be prompted to login using their valid UNC Person ID (PID):

http://eresources.lib.unc.edu/external_db/external_database_auth.html?A=P|F=N|ID=222|REL=HSL|SO=HSL|URL=http://libproxy.lib.unc.edu/login?url=

To determine the correct URL construction for other electronic resources, use the URL Builder http://proxy.lib.unc.edu/ezproxy_urlmaker1.php to construct the web address or find a link to the electronic resource on a library page such as http://www.hsl.unc.edu
