Finding Journals at the Health Sciences Library

I have my citations, how do I find the journal?

  • When you search PubMed, look for links (see picture below) to journal articles available online through UNC Chapel Hill Libraries subscriptions. Links are visible when the display is in "Abstract" mode or when you look at individual record.

  • Note: PubMed does not provide information about all online journals or the journals UNC Libraries own in print ). Search for these journals in the UNC Chapel Hill Libraries Catalog.

How do I search for journals in the UNC Chapel Hill Libraries Catalog?

  • (1) Access the UNC Library Catalog by going to www.hsl.unc.edu and selecting the catalog link.

  • (2) Enter the complete title of the journal in the search box. Select "Journal Title" in the dropdown box. Hit Search.
    Tip: use PubMed's Journal Browser to look up complete titles.

  • Searching for Journals in the UNC Catalog

  • (3) You may have to select a title from the records list:

How do I search for E-journals in the Libraries E-Journal Finder?

  • (1) Go to www.hsl.unc.edu and select "Electronic Journals."

What does a catalog record tell you?

  • The catalog record gives information about holdings. The record also gives you publication information and subject headings for the journal.
