About Electronic Indexes and Databases
Electronic indexes and databases contain references to journal articles, books, data, consumer websites and pamphlets, and often even the full text of journal articles. If you are looking for peer-reviewed articles for a class assignment, drug information, or other targeted information on a topic, you will want to search one or more of our e-indexes and databases.
UNC-Chapel Hill's E-Research Tools is useful for finding databases with relevant literature for a specific discipline.
The Health Sciences Library website provides an alternative and convenient way to access all UNC electronic indexes and databases, including selected health-related electronic resources.
Finding Indexes and Databases
You can access the resources discussed above by visiting the Health Sciences Library page and clicking on More Databases (located near the top left of the homepage).
As shown in the images below, the More Database page allows you to locate and select the available resources in various ways.
Search By Database Name
On the More Databases main page, you are able to search for a specific database by name or by keywords in the database title and description. As seen in the image above, you have the choice to search all databases or search health-related databases only.

Browse by Subject
The subject listing provides a way to find health-related indexes or databases if you do not know the name of a resource. On the More Databases main page, choose a subject from the drop down box.
Note: The Subject Listing is a small subset of the Alphabetical Listing, containing only the most important resources for the specific subject from that list.
Browse Alphabetically
On the More Databases main page, click a letter to see the health-related resources beginning with that letter.
(These listings do not include all the e-indexes or databases on a topic. Please Ask-a-Librarian if you need to see all the resources for your topic.)
