PART I
- Perform your search in
PubMed
- In the Display drop down list, select MEDLINE.
- PubMed should now be showing your articles in a "tagged" format. ProCite needs to have the articles
in this format so it can tell the difference between different parts of the article's record.
- Now you are ready to save your articles. In the Send To pull-down menu, select File.
- You will now be prompted to save the file to your computer. Be sure to save it as a text file (file
extension .txt), and try to put it somewhere where you'll be able to find it, like on your desktop.
PART II
- Go to ProCite and open the database in which you wish
to import your references.
- Click on the Tools menu and select Import text file. Select the file which you
just saved from PubMed.
- The ProCite import dialog box will appear.
- Under File Type , select
Tagged.
- File Format , select PubMed. (If PubMed does not appear in your drop
down list, click on the box with three small dots which appears to the right
of file format. Then select the file pubmed.cfg)
- Under Target Database ,
your active ProCite database name will be displayed by default. You may select
another database, if desired.
- Click on Transfer.
- Your citations will be processed and ProCite will confirm that
the import was completed successfully.
