Journal Cancellations 2009: Update
The Health Sciences Library, through extensive feedback from the UNC Chapel Hill Health Affairs community, has identified 153 journal subscriptions to cancel in 2010. The remaining 100 titles from the review list will continue in 2010, although they may face further cuts in the future. The identified immediate cancellations will allow the Library to reduce expenses by approximately $322,000, with additional needed reductions coming from other areas of the budget.
The Library thanks each of the many responders for their careful consideration and assistance with this daunting and unfortunate task. Though the cancellation of so many titles will certainly have a lasting impact on the UNC community, your assistance has helped the Library minimize the negative effects as much as possible.
Electronic access to the issues previously subscribed (2009 and earlier) will remain active, and some canceled subscription titles will continue to have delayed access to new volumes via databases such as Academic Search Premier or CINAHL.
