Appendix D: Data Analysis

Qualitative Data Analysis Methods

1. Create a theming sheet using the topics identified in the appropriate interview guide.
2. For each theming sheet, create a coding system.
3. Using this coding system, highlight and code quotes from the interview notes.
4. Tape Analysis:
   1. Listen to tape for interesting points, trends, and main focal points. Supplement interview notes as needed.
   2. Listen to tape and write down pertinent and thoughtful quotes. Fill in gaps in interview notes.
5. Transfer major themes to theming sheet using coding system.
6. Supplement themes with quotes.
