Informants saw the coordination of care between Duke, the Health Department, and Lincoln Community Health Center for indigent populations as one of Durham's strengths. Durham's highly educated and diverse population can also afford many opportunities for discussion and community activism. Many providers also perceive the combined efforts of the religious community as a strength. It was said that the religious community has a tendency to act responsibly towards the problem of homelessness. "They are most concerned with the problems related to homelessness and are good at holding the county commissioners accountable to respond to homeless needs." [not direct quote] As mentioned by another provider, "religious affiliation has been a strength in organizing for political action…clergy are action-oriented, outspoken, and tell it like it is." The service providers did not mention many strengths of the homeless community. However, a couple noted that strengths of the homeless people included their resilience, ability to talk to people, manipulate, and survive.
