A26: Insert for English Language Invitation

April 11,2002

Dear Friend,

We would like to invite you to the Fuquay-Varina Community Forum that will be held on April 28th, 2002 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the newly opened Early Learning Center (303 West Jones St., see directions below). This is an opportunity for community members, local service providers and government officials to come together and discuss the issues that affect life in Fuquay-Varina, particularly in the Latino community.

A team of graduate students from the School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill is working in Fuquay-Varina to learn about the strengths and challenges present in the Latino community. They have been interviewing a number of service providers and community members to learn about what life is like in Fuquay-Varina. The students, in partnership with a planning committee of community members and service providers called "Uniting Communities Toward Change," will be presenting the information gathered through interviews at this event. We hope that priorities for change will be set and that groups will determine action steps to begin working on solutions.

Refreshments and door prizes from local restaurants and businesses will be provided. We will also be providing childcare and translation services during the forum. We hope you can join us on April 28th. Please call (919) 966-3919 by April 19th to RSVP and indicate if you will need childcare. Your attendance is vital not only to that day's success but also to the continuing efforts to build a strong and united community.

Sincerely,

Lynn Osterberg
