Loan Periods & Renewals | Cards & Access | Fines & Stops | Recalls (Holds)

HSL does not hold books that are available. Library staff cannot tell you who has the book if it is unavailable.

To recall a book that is checked out, fill out the Request a Checked-out Book form. You must have a valid borrower's card. Your request will prevent the current borrower from renewing the book and you will be notified by email when the book is ready for pickup.

All books are subject to recalls, which may shorten the loan period. Borrowers are guaranteed at least 30 days from the initial checkout, and at least 14 days from the day of recall, not to exceed the current due date. The Library will notify you when a book you have is recalled by another borrower. There is no grace period for recalled books; the recall fine begins the day after a book is due.

To reserve a video owned by HSL for use in instruction, come to the library or call (919) 962-0800 during library hours or email your request to Ask a Librarian. Tell us who you are, what video you want, and when you want to use it.
