There are two Media Design Studios, one for the Windows platform and one for Macintosh. Each studio has two computers, with two scanners connected to each computer (one flatbed and one slide scanner each). The computers are equipped with a floppy drive, CD burner, and DVD drive, and are connected to one HP color inkjet printer in each room. A large-format plotter is available for printing maps and scholarly posters that have been created in the Studios.

All workstations have a core set of software including, but not limited to:

  • Adobe CS Suite (includes Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)

  • Macromedia MX Suite (includes Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Flash)

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer

  • Microsoft Office (Includes PowerPoint, Word, and Excel)

  • GIS software

  • Additional software for digital audio and video (Adobe Premiere on Windows and Final Cut Pro on the Macintosh).

Online tutorials are available for each of these packages, or you may request a consultation for additional training.
