Searching the Literature for Animal Testing Alternatives

Librarians at the Health Sciences Library are available to provide literature search consultations. Such consultations may range from providing help with developing search strategies to performing searches in databases to which you may not have access.

Please fill out our Ask a Librarian form or contact the Health Sciences Library to request a consultation.  Filling out the form ensures that we have some background information on your research methods before contacting you for a meeting.  Particularly helpful information to note in the "I would like assistance with the following:" section includes:

• Species used (please include both common and scientific names)
• Chemical(s) and/or drug(s) used (please include generic/common and scientific names and CAS RN if known)
• Biological system(s) being studied
• Disease(s) and/or condition(s) being studied
• A brief description of the research protocol

You may find the suggestions on the Define the Question section of this learning module helpful for identifying other aspects of your research that would be appropriate to explore in a literature search. The librarian who works with you will follow the steps described in this module when designing your consultation.
