Jean Mouiel (1936- )

Jean Mouiel was born on May 8 1936 in Médéa (Algeria). He received his Doctorat en Médecine from the Université d’Alger in 1961. He specialized in digestive surgery (liver, pancreas, portal-hypertension, digestive tract).

He became head of the Hôpital St. Roch Surgery department in 1971 at the Centre Hospitalier Régional de Nice. He is a member of the Académie de Chirurgie de Paris (1979), the Association Française de Chirurgie (1963) and the American College of Surgeons (1979). He was the editor of Actualités digestives medico-chirurgicales and co-wrote the Conférences de séméiologie chirurgicale pour la préparation aux examens de 2e année de Faculté et au concours hospitaliers. He is on the editorial board of Obesity Surgery : Including Laparoscopy and Allied Care.
